The all new version of the Honda’s premium Hatchback, Jazz will be launched on March 2015, according to official sources. It is also said that unlike the previous model which was a bit pricey, the new model will be more affordable and will challenge the upcoming Hyundai i20 Elite and the new Volkswagen Polo in the premium Hatch segment.
When it was launched in 2009, the Jazz cost almost as much as a current Hyundai Verna, and with much cheaper options offered by competitors, naturally there was very less demand for the car. This led to a big price cut from Honda, reducing the price by almost 1 Lakh. Even though it was much acclaimed by car critics and reviewers for its practicality and better performance when compared to the competitors, Jazz struggled to attract customers even with the price cut. Now, with the launch of Honda’s new MPV, the Mobilio, and the all new City, Honda has captured a lot of attention and interest, and with the Jazz already on sale in different countries across the world, it was only a matter of time when they would decide to introduce the Jazz to the Indian Market.
I have always been fond of the Honda Jazz, and with the new car, I hope the performance, and build quality does not go down with the price. What we have seen till now of the all new Jazz, through pictures, has been interesting but we would need to wait until March to find out whether our worries are indeed meaningful. Until then, lets just look forward to the coming months where we can hope to see some more details (or leaks) of the Jazz coming out.
