Apple has launched their new iPhone, the iPhone 6, on 9th September 2014. But thats not all. For the first time ever, Apple has launched more than one models of the iPhone simultaneously, which goes beyond just the storage options. Apple has gone out of their comfort zone and created a Phablet named the iPhone 6 Plus, with a 5.5″ screen. The iPhone 6 is also at the receiving end of firsts, as it has a 4.7″ screen. This is the first time Apple has gone beyond the 4″ mark in screens.
The iPhone 6 has a screen resolution of 1334×750 pixels, which puts it at par with the iPhone 5S in terms of pixel density of 326ppi. The bigger iPhone 6 Plus has full HD 1930×1080 resolution, with a pixel density of 401ppi.The display of the iPhone is now called Retina HD display. It is a more refined display from the already amazing Retina display.
The design has been refreshed with the iPhone 5S’ slab like form factor giving way to rounded edges and corners. The new design makes the iPhone look even more slimmer than it really is. Speaking of which, the new iPhone is slimmer than its predecessor measuring in at 6.9mm as compared to the 5S’ 7.6mm. The iPhone 6 Plus is a bit more thicker measuring at 7.1mm. The new phones are a bit heavier than the 5S, thanks to the new internals. The iPhone 6 weighs 129gms and the 6 Plus weighs 172 gms.
The iPhone 6 comes with a 8-Megapixel iSight camera which is the same as that of the 5S on paper, but the sensor has received some tweaks. Apple says images will be much more life-like under flash. HDR mode is automatically applied now and the new chip will reduce noise much better than the old one.
The iPhone 6 comes with a 64-bit A8 processor which is supposed to have 50% faster graphics, and 25% faster CPU. This chip is coupled with a M8 co-processor which now comes with a load of new sensors including a barometer. Now the iPhone 6 can show elevation, air pressure, and it can estimate distances. Other iPhone 6 goodies include WiFi 802.11ac connectivity, NFC and Apple Pay, which is a purpose built mobile payment system from Apple.
The battery in the iPhone 6 supposedly lasts up to 10 hrs on 3G and LTE. As always with Apple, they have not revealed details about the battery in mAh, but history suggests that the phone will have a great battery.
